quieting the brain is a useful thing, some people have brains that are like a storm, and the spirit is getting blown all over, but if you quiet your brain then you can control it better
there are many ways to do this, but the way I like is to look at your thoughts, see them as a tool you use, just like your clothes or hands, and when you can see them, you can quite them down, then when you want to use your thoughts, they are free to do what you ask.
feel free to post your favorite way of quieting your brain

For me this was a strange thing. since childhood my mind was always racing. assessing, thinking around the next corner, on and on and on. I didnt WANT to stop it, because it revealed so much for me.
But at a certain age I decided it wasnt ideal that I couldnt stop it, more then not wanting to. It just went and went. I decided I had better learn to stop it and be in the moment...
so it took a lot of will power and determination, but every single thought that came I would stop it in stride. for awhile this was counter productive, meaning i couldnt get as much done. turning off all thoughts.. this went on for weeks until I point I realized my mind was still. not sure exactly when it transitioned.
then i noticed a strange thing... without all the thoughts, my thoughts were much deeper. the seeing around corners stuff and assessing all possible variables became easier not harder. It all kinda comes at me as one bubble of thought now rather then a series of words. I now have to find words to fit thoughts, rather then thinking with words. if that makes sense. Its a much more profound and powerful paradigm....
